Re: [HOE] HOE NEWBIE d20

Hi Kerry,

First I want to say that you made a pretty good buy with HOE
d20. As for conversions your best bet is to take some time
and sit down to do it yourself. There are a few factors that
I always take into account. First you should use the posse's
level to determine the hit dice of the creatures you want to
use. Sometimes the creatures are not much of a challenge so
you should raise the level of the critter to meet the posse's
level. Most of the D20 critters have a hit dice advancement
at the very bottom of there stats. For books you should buy I
know that City O' Sin and Denver are good source books to
buy, but the class books are going to be pretty useless to
you for game mechanics. One thing positive about the
classbooks is the background material. Basically only buy the
classbooks to learn the history of the class or information
surrounding it, other than that you wont be able to translate
most of it to D20. Lastly whatever setting you choose to use
is fine, but most people still shudder when they think of the
beggining of every dark sun campaign "Okay now that you have
spent all of your measly pennies on equipment to barely keep
you alive... you lose it all MWAHAHAHAHAHA." SO that is not a
real popular route to go. Maybe start them in a town about to
be overrun by blackhats and see if they form a cohesive unit
then if you want to do the slave thing you can, but they will
know there equipment can be found if they could just get out
of the hole they are in. Hope I helped a bit.
