If one of my posse had the temerity to argue about spirit loss (which
they wouldn't), I'd say that it's not losing the meat that hurts your
spirit, it's treating the chunk of soulless metal as part of yourself
that eats at your soul.

Using a waldo for building something or a battle suit for fighting
wouldn't cause spirit loss, because you walk away from it when the
job is done -- it's a tool, even if it is mimicking parts of your
body.  But thinking "this bit of steel is me" leads to "I am this bit
of steel."
