Not at all if it works for you.  That method would work for me too for that
matter.  But there are those that  like the "official-ness" of having
something written down and published and thereby "blessed" by PEG.  That's
fine too.  And PEG needs to cater to as many fans as they can, so anything
they do publish pretty much has to be dual statted.

That, and when we're not playing Deadlands, my group plays DnD fantasy.  No
harm in "borrowing" a d20 Deadlands beastie to keep the party on their
toes...
