I've run both of these.  Actually, I've run "The Shape Of Things A'Comin'"
many times at gaming conventions and the like.  They are both excellent
adventures.  As for your question, yes they are both safe.  That is, they
work as stand alone adventures and neither reveals anything relating to the
central HOE storyline ("Unity", "Urban Renewal", "Jihad", etc.).  Have fun.
