Oh man, such an understatement. I'm on the Savage Worlds yahoo group, and
know enough about the game to tell you it's designed to be a great role
playing game that can handle mass combats properly, _AND_ it's a table top
war game (same kinda battles that you see in Warhammer W40K games) that
handles role playing properly. It's just darn neat. What's in the Unity is
just a way to tell a story about a big battle without getting bogged down in
the rules of the game. Just keeps the plot moving.
Savage Worlds comes out in March. I probably won't switch over my Deadlands
game -- the rules do work very well with the setting -- but if I run
anything else, I'll probably use Savage Worlds. The mess I'm in just being
a player in a DnD3 game with feats from this book and that and all, YIKES.
And I'm just in charge of my character! It just makes me want the
streamlined rules Savage Worlds will have that much more. I could go with
Deadlands rules in a non-deadlands game, but the integrated mass combat
seems interesting to add to a campaign.
