is in Elko, Nevada headed to Sacramento. Since I never cared for the
adventure in CotA, Elko is just another survivor settlement. However,
they've recently asked the posse to carry the mail to Winnemucca since they
are going that way. Along the way, I plan to spring the Speed Demons from
Road Warriors on them. Knowing my group like I do, there's a good chance
they will track down Devin Blackstone and try to remove him from the planet.
Now I don't know about you, but if I was an evil Junker who spent his spare
time making cars with attitudes and wiring poor suckers into them, I think I
would have gotten the Servitor Nod(tm). So, Marshals, if ya would, dig out
Roadwarriors, flip to the back and let me hear your ideas for turning this
guy into the Automotive Servitor. Or if you've already used the Speed Demons
in your game let me know how it went. Once they've settled Blackstone's
hash, I plan to let them ! rest a bit in Winnemucca and then have them run
across a sheriff with a problem (Jim Greer). Thanks in advance for the
ideas.
A couple of general notes: First, not all bad guys are servitors. Many
people are evil enough to get the 'Servitor Nod(tm)' but don't because they
do not directly advance the Reckoner's plans and thus aren't worth the
expenditure of power. Second, many people are going to become servitors in
the future, but haven't been on the Road to Hell long enough. Finally, from
an out of character perspective, servitors should be rare because their
powers and abilities should be special. That being said, there's no reason
why Devin Blackstone can't be a servitor if you want him to be.
In my opinion, Mr. Blackstone would be a servitor of War since he spends his
time making what are essentially war machines. I'd take the poetic justice
angle for his weakness and say that he can only be killed by strapping him
into one of his own cars. It's your call whether or not you want to try to
engineer a battle between the posse and the resulting deathmobile. The
posse could discover this weakness from one of his victims that they pull
out of a car wreck. Alternatively, they could deduce his weakness from some
of Devin's notes about his arcane device that they find laying about in his
shop. As for coup, the winner could get the services of a moderate level
car browser and all the chip powers that entails. If you want to beef up
his combat abilities, give him a high-level gun browser and a stack of chips
to work with. Also, be sure to stock his lair with plenty of war-inspired
killing machines.
Just some ideas from how I'd run things.
