So, I ran some Demo Games for our new Marshal, to make sure he's got the rules down pat. I sent him into the "City of Tits... Washington." (Yes, I read far too much Penny Arcade) three times with three different characters (His NPC and Dues Ex Machina for our campaign, the Librarian Archtype, and the Veteran Confederate Soldier Archtype.). First is his NPC, who enters the warehouse district of Tits after getting through the Maelstrom, and hit "Luigi's You-Store-It" for the first place to salvage. After finding the Master Key attached to the Register Key, he opened one of the cargo containers. Pulling a card to determine what was in it, I pulled the Black Joker. It was full of dead bodies, some still moving. Chinese Illegal Immigrant Walkin' Dead. "BLAINS!" After critically failing his Guts and Two Quickness Rolls, they ate him alive. As I needed to have him alive for the campaign (And didn't want to kill the NPC that's going to be with our group, and thus piss off the GM!), I had him wake up in Junkyard from "A horrible nightmare", look down under the sheets, and see lots of teeth marks. Next up, the Librarian! Critical Failure on the Spirit Check to get through the Maelstrom (And I rolled a 3. Go figure.), and she comes through with a mutation, "Glows in the dark". She's in the Suburbs. She finds a house that's pretty OK looking, with a sports car in the driveway. Warily, she goes around, checking the building, and finding the inside of the house filled with graffiti. Moving around the back, she finds a swing set and a gazebo. She then checks the car from the back, which is a Hellstromme Industries DeLorian, which has one of the most advanced electronic systems around. (Hense not being stolen.). Cognition check, and she realizes that the gazebo was closer to the fence the last time she looked, and now it's in the middle of the yard. Getting ready to run, the Gazebo rises up, and reaches for her, where the player promptly goes bust on the Guts roll. Heart attack, fails both Vigor Rolls, and dies. Third up, Soldier. Through the Maelstrom again. This time, into an abandoned lot. Even the S-Mart had closed down, and was stripped of everything. Including the Lightbulbs. Venturing forth, going over the track, he realized that he was now on the wrong side of the tracks. Ghetto territory! After having a skeleton fall all over itself trying to panhandle from him, he saw a group of Walkin' Dead march out of a bar, drunkenly, and go into the hotel that was connected to it. He decided to camp out in the S-Mart, and leave. Quickly. Taking three wounds to the Guts from Maelstrom Damage. What did he learn? "Wow, Spirit isn't the Dump Stat I took it for!" :-P Internet Explorer 8 makes surfing easier. Get it now! |
