Subject: [Pack159_Leaders] Pack Effort to collect donations for Haiti at the Blue and Gold Banquet
Haiti Earthquake Relief Effort
A collaboration of private and public organizations and companies in Northern Virginia and Florida is making headway with its efforts to help those people devastated by Haiti's recent earthquakes. Since the collection began Jan.14, 625 lbs. of urgently needed supplies have already been delivered, and another shipment is expected to leave the DC area for Haiti this week.
Arms Outstretched Ministry, Inc., a 501(c)3 based in Stafford, VA, is coordinating the collection in Washington, DC's suburbs. (Federal ID 26-4091676).
Quick transport of the donated items is being provided by Allied Van Lines' Bayshore Team. This Woodbridge, VA-based moving and storage company is providing pro bono transport of all goods collected in the DC area.
Agape Flights, a Venice, FL, non-profit organization that for 30 years has delivered needed supplies to missionaries in Haiti, Jamaica and the Dominican Republic, is coordinating the delivery of our collected items from their Florida airfield and are sending multiple planeloads of goods to Haiti daily. Agape's on-the-ground network of missionaries is able to distribute the collected items immediately to Haitians who need them.
If you or your company would like to join this group making an immediate and positive impact to provide needed supplies to those who lost everything in Haiti, you can contact:

We have a critical need for tents that can be used for shelter as well as back packs or duffel bags for the homeless in Haiti to have something to carry whatever belonging they might have with them.
We are accepting back packs and duffel bags with supplies for those in Haiti. Back packs are for either a single female or a single male and the duffel bags are for families. Please be sure to label the bags accordingly for easier delivery and distribution!!
All bags need canned/pouch meat, a blanket, a sheet, a towel, peanut butter, crackers/cookies, plate, fork, cup, 8 foot plastic rope, toothpaste, deodorant, small scissors, wipes, shampoo and bar soap in a baggie. If you are packing a bag for a female, please add some sanitary products or for a male, please add a razor. Family duffel bags just need double the amount of supplies.
From the website yesterday, Feb. 8:
These were the additional items needed:
Tents, tarps, rice, beans, Pick axes, Sledge hammers, regular hammers, chisels.
Food items most needed:
50# or 100# bags Rice and Beans (check Sam's Clubs)
canned meats, vienna sausages, spam
peanut butter
pork and beans
self-rising flour
snacks such as protein bars or granola or Protein powder
powdered milk
baby formula and baby food, bottles,
Please bring your donations to a table at the Blue and Gold Banquet. I will be taking all the items over to the home where the moving company will be flying the items to Florida and then Haiti. There is a delivery being sent to Haiti right after our Banquet.
Thank you for helping out in this effort. Feel free to call or email me if you have any questions.
