shifting everything to he right and down one square would eliminate that.
There's still the one square currently at 9,8 that could be possible

I'd be surprised if none of the 10(?) words with a gap at the end (with
nothing afterwards) couldn't be pluralised!

In addition to Stephen Tavener's suggestion, it might be possible with a
more open arrangement like the one shown below.  If I'm not mistaken, all
the open spaces that are adjacent to any existing tile are adjacent in more
than one direction, or else to a line of more than one tile.
