Mancala solved!
Wari players might be interested in reading
http://www.sciencenews.org/20020907/mathtrek.asp (the contents of that
webpage are likely to change to a new article on Monday).
To quote from the article:
"To figure out what happens in the game, computer scientists John W. Romein
and Henri E. Bal of the Free University in Amsterdam wrote a computer
program that calculates the best move and eventual outcome for all
889,063,398,406 positions that can possibly occur in the game."
Also:
"The results were stored in a 778-gigabyte database."
I don't think you have to worry about a human opponent memorizing the
perfect plays.
The bottom line is that there is no first-move or second-move advantage if
both players play perfectly.
I just thought you might be interested.
