Re: [PyrNet-L] Work, Show or Pet?

In a message dated 98-03-25 15:17:30 EST, you write:

<< A point that everyone is probably aware of but it needs to be repeated, some
pyrs
are better guardians of livestock than others. Some pyrs
will never be suited for guarding livestock and only do well guarding their
people. There are others that would not do well in a backyard or
small acreage and need a job which includes many animals
 and a large territory. >>

Tell us how you came about this information? This is a legitimate inquiry,
not an attack on what you said. If it is opinion held by you and others let
us know. Give us the background how you know this i.e. the stories, data, or
whatever, about those Pyrs that were placed and would not guard in the
particular situation. If you were told this information, please share with us
who told you, so we might have the opportunity to evaluate the source.
While I suspect there must be dogs that cannot work with livestock or other I
have not met one yet. Since 1972 we have placed many Pyrs (somewhere between
50 and 100) with farmers and livestock owners, both here in the Southeast and
on large ranches in Texas as well. Everyone of them worked as needed. No
complaints. The job was done to the complete satisfaction and frequent
amazement of the owners.

So since everyone seems to keep saying this I must need a education. I am
willing to examine whatever information anyone might have that is objective
and unbiased.
