[PyrNet-L] Re: CHAT: Ivy's big day
Please excuse me sending this post to both lists but I know quite a few
people know "Ivy League" who was donated to IPPL by Nancy Sandoval a few
weeks ago and would like to know about her splendid adjustment to life in
South Carolina.
---------------------------------
Our wonderful Ivy from Maryland is doing fine in South Carolina. Yesterday
I had to give a talk at the South Carolina Pet Expo, and decided to go
early and take Ivy along to tour the booth and watch the activities,
because she is so laid-back. She was beyond-wonderful. There must have been
1,000 dogs and 10,000 people at the Charlestowne Landing, the dome building
was jam-packed.
Ivy was such a wonderful ambassador of our breed. She approached nearly
every dog she saw in a very friendly manner, and adored the tiny dogs of
whom there were many. She really did well with small children too. She was
the only Pyr there and several kids wanted their photos taken with her. No
problem. When I gave my talk, she was taken care of by the Summerville SPCA
and did not get nervous.
She also had a funny habit of standing in front of baby carriages and
wheelchairs to stop them proceeding, so that she could befriend the
occupants. One handicapped lady was really touched by Ivy laying her head
in her lap. Nancy, her former owner, had told me she had shown this
behavior earlier but I was delighted to witness it.
As you can tell, we are delighted with our new family member! Shirley,
Patou, and Ivy
