My Pyrs love to ride in the car! When we moved from Dayton to Omaha (two
days drive), they just slept in the back of the Blazer -- only sat up when
I came to a stop -- they figured it was time to eat and explore!. When we
moved from Omaha to Moorhead MN (just outside of Fargo) -- same thing!

Suggestions: feed in evening (after through driving); give water at rest
stops and in morning (assuming adult dog).

 Also, how cold is too cold for him
>to be outside in the Minnesota Winters,

They would be happy staying out much longer than I am willing to -- even
when windchill is -40 (C or F -- they're the same). Wait until you see
them play in the snow -- they love it!! Mine love to make dog angels!
They also like to make snowballs and throw them around.

and do Pyrs respond well to an

First year up here we tried an electronic fence. We got a tone even
through the snow (up to 5 ft. deep). However, we had to use the very
strong battery and shave the neck -- then they quit making that battery.
Whenever the UPS truck went by, the electronic fence didn't stop them;
ditto for another dog going by or a school bus, or a walker or a jogger.
My very strong advice -- DO NOT USE ELECTRONIC FENCE WITH A PYR.

Welcome to Minnesota! Let us know how your trip goes!
