Re: [PyrNet-L] Feeding

Deanna, I sympathize! Paddington was quite disinterested in food from
about 5 months, and we had a hard time convincing him to eat enough to
keep his weight at a reasonable level. Our previous pyr had also been a
picky eater, to the point of being skinny, and when she developed cancer
at age 12, she had no reserves to draw on and went down to skin and bone
very quickly. So yes, we have sinned, and we regularly add taste enhancers
to the food of both Paddington and Ivy Rose! Ivy is always more interested
in anything rather than eating, and also tends to be skinny. Ours adore
shredded cheese (good cheddar or by preference Roquefort: quite
aristocratic in their tastes!) and meat scraps which we cook up with lots
of garlic. We only add about a tablespoon to each meal, but it's enough to
pique their interest and "prime the pump." We also find that they get
bored if they have the same thing too often, so although we don't change
their basic food (we feed Fromm's Performance kibble) we do vary the
treats. Both are healthy, very active, and have good coats, so we don't
worry too much about how "spoiled" they are!

good stuff been all my life?")
