Catie,
     You can foster dogs, find your local group and help bath or brush dogs.
Sometimes I could use help just keeping a dog over the weekend and brushing
and giving individual attention to a dog and/or taking it to an adoption day
at a local PetsMart or Petco.   Taking a dog to and from the vet and/or
keeping it the first night after surgery.   There are lots of needs-- find out
what they are feeding and donate food.   And last but not least donate money
to the National/ local rescue so they can help with the most needs.
