Re: [PyrNet-L] Fentanyl

Our Pyr Zuni was on a Fentanyl patch after her surgery for osteosarcoma.
Althought we do not recall her having any bad reactions to it regarding
movement, eating, etc, she did have a different kind of reaction.
Zuni was on chemotherapy for about five months. She lost a lot of hair
over that time, until her tail was even completely bald. This is not common
for chemo in dogs, I guess. Anyway, after she was off the chemo, her hair
started to grow back everywhere but where they had shaved her to put the
patch on her rump. We were concerned about this, and went back to the vet
about it. He said it looked almost like a chemical burn. Her skin was very
irritated by it.
Eventually she did get all of her hair back and is recovering nicely
(clear chest x-ray yesterday!) But I always wondered about that patch and I
don't think I would ever use it again.
