Sounds as if you are on the right track with the training you're doing now.  
Around here, that's in the Greenville, SC area, most trainers have a "puppy 
class" for dogs at least 6 months of age.  We took two of our pyrs (Tanuki 
and Zoe) to puppy class, as well as regular obedience, and they loved it.  
Great way to get them socialised in a controlled environment - as well as 
having them and you learn something.
