[PyrNet-L] Sniffing
<<...but I have to wonder why does "he"
get this treatment>>
Cindy, I think you should trust the dogs on this one. I think that Pyrs have
an exceptional sense of the difference between someone or something that is a
"friend" and someone or something that may be a potential danger. Part of
the guarding instinct, if you know what I mean. Another part of it may be
that they sense your reservations about this young man. You are uneasy, and
the dogs know it and are reacting to it.
On a similar note - my elderly mother came for a visit and brought one of her
sisters, an rude and abrasive woman who makes us all uncomfortable. Gypsy,
my pyr, has special feelings for my mother and always shows them by putting
on her "Grandma" manners whenever she's around. As usual, while we were
visiting Gypsy sat with her head in "Grandma"'s lap. My aunt offended
"Grandma" several times during the course of our conversation, and when they
finally got up to leave, Gypsy expressed her feelings by nipping the offender
in the butt! Not that I want to encourage that kind of behavior, but it was
awfully hard to keep a straight face while I corrected her. . .
