Wow!!
What a wonderful story, you must be so thankful you have him and so proud of 
the bond he has with your family.  What a great dog!!  I just hope that you 
don't have any further problems with that dog and it would be worthwhile to 
make sure the authorities are aware of this dog's temperment, just in case 
there are problems down the road.
How is your daughter doing?  That must have been so frightening for her and 
her friend.  Make sure she knows she can talk about it adn process the ordeal.
