In your enclosed yard, take a LONG piece of line, like a soft clothes line.
Attach it to their collar. Walk around the yard with them holding the end of
the line, letting them examine things on the way, and let them get a distance
away from you. At that point, call "COME, Isis" (or Jupiter). If they don't
respond immediately, give a sharp tug on the line, but make sure you tug
AFTER you call, and not before. As they come toward you keep some tension in
the line, by sliding it through your hands (don't try to gather it up, just
let it fall on the ground, you'll be able to gather it up later). At first,
I would offer a treat when they respond, but make sure to give plenty of
verbal praise, and pets. As time goes on, the reward for coming will be in
the form of words, not food. This won't be an instant fix, but it does work
with much practice.
