I use the half slip 'premier collars' as a 'training/out for a walk' collar.
Nice colours too! LOL!  Even though they are flat, as they are only on for
training/walking they don't seem to damage the coat or catch in the fur.  I
wouldn't leave them on all the time though.  Even though they are only a
'half slip', they can still possibly get dangerously caught on things.

Just a side-note on the 'fur saver collar' (which in my own experience
doesn't in fact 'save fur' that much :-/).  Did you know it was never
invented as a fur saver?  If my memory serves me it was developed in the UK
to be used by security/police dog handlers as a multi-purpose dog collar and
handcuffs! (or some such thing).  They needed the links big so they could be
easily clipped together :-).
