[PyrNet-L] Sugar and other thoughts about the Michigan Rescue
<My husband and I were also lucky enough to find a Pyr (our little Sugar)
at Michigan Rescue, in the fall of 1998. We so liked Angie and her folks
and appreciated the incredible work she and her crew were doing, that I
kept visiting her website to see the other Pyrs in need.As soon as Maggie's
picture was posted I fell in love with her. We were a little overwhelmed
with the changes in our lives that Sugar had brought (her need to sleep on
our bed led to some major furniture purchases as well as a few spousal
'disagreements'), but because Maggie's picture was so compelling I wrote
to Angie to ask tentatively about getting her too...>
Dear Gerry, Floyd, Tuff Travis and Sugar,
It is so nice to hear from someone else who discovered the Michigan Rescue
and had a successful adoption (with some adjustment period, of course!) We
had a similar experience with Maggie and the bed. During nights she was
particularly restless, we used to just plop her on the bed and she would
just settle down like a little angel. It got to the point that when she
wanted attention or to come up on the bed with us, she would pull what we
liked to call the "cover flip". Maggie would work her little head
underneath the covers and snake up your back until she got to your neck.
She would then grab the covers with her head and race to the bottom of the
bed. The poor soul who was the object of her attention would suddenly find
themselves freezing in the middle of the night without any blankets! Does
Sugar have any habits like this? If so, we may want to speak with Angie to
make sure she's not teaching them this one! Or do we just expect antics
like this from our pyrs? I have to admit, we never had a problem with
soap, but I am filing away all of the precious information on the list for
our next pyr, Dexter, who will be joining us in a few short weeks!
