    I built my own fence 6' dog ear boards spaced 3" apart, basically picket 
style. I also ran an electric fence wire a few inches from the ground. This 
saved a lot of money on material, and I think the dogs like to be able to see 
out. It's still more expensive than chain link, but if you build it yourself 
it only runs about $1.75 per foot, verses the $10.00 per foot that most 
professionals charge.   Charlie
