[pyrnet] CHAT: Tracing the Background of My New Pyr

Hi, I'm new around here. (Have been lurking for about a month, enjoying the
friendly atmosphere and learning a lot.) I have what may be an odd question.

A month ago I adopted from a shelter a wonderful, (approximately)
19-month-old female Pyr, Athena. The only thing I know about her background
is that she and her two-year-old male companion, Apollo, were placed in a
shelter in southern Idaho last summer after their original owner was killed
in a double murder. By the time I learned of her, she was in a different
shelter, far from her origins. Available information was sketchy.

At first my only concern was whether she had been traumatized severely by
her original "mother's" killing. It turns out she's fine. In fact she's SO
fine -- so obviously someone's happy, well-loved, good-natured,
well-trained girl -- that I now would really like to know where she was
bred and more about how she was raised. I don't know how to trace her
origins, though. I have no idea whether she was ever registered, where she
was born, etc.

I do have a few details about the murder and was hoping to use them to
learn her original owner's name -- then to see if I could trace
registration and breeding from there. But an exhastive net search for
recent murder cases in Idaho has turned up nothing. (Quite possibly it
happened in a rural area where the media doesn't put its articles on the net.)

I hope I don't seem morbid. I am curious about the murder but more
interested in learning more about this beautiful girl's background. If
anyone thinks they may know who this dog is, or if anyone has any ideas
about how I can trace her registration or her breeder, would you please
e-mail me privately? BTW, Athena and Apollo were, as far as I can tell, the
dogs' original call names.

Gratefully,
Claire
