RE: Re: Re: [pyrnet] neighbors.

OK, here's a better neighbor story. A few years ago (pre-goats!) my husband
and I were hard-core whitewater kayakers. We would set the dogs up with a
"pet visitor" service, since they had access to the garage, along with food,
water, and a good fence. We started going away most weekends in May. In
mid-August, we came home to find a message on the answering machine -- from
2:45 am the night before: "Your dogs are barking ..."

I immediately went next door to talk to our neighbor, who said that yes,
they bark all night -- and have been doing it since May. I told my neighbor
that he had much more patience than I would have! Many might not agree with
our solution, but we found a vet who did a very gentle job of debarking.

Now we're in the country (don't get envious) on 50 acres surrounded by
thousands of acres of cattle pasture. We have four more dogs (2 Pyrs)and
everyone's dogs bark, including the two debarked boys, who just don't make
much noise any more. They are a great visitor alarm!
