RE: [pyrnet] pet store pups

We bought one of our pups from another goat farmer here, and a second from a
goat farmer in MS. The farmers don't care anything about conformation, and
many still live by the old rule: just put the dog with the goats and don't
touch it again. These dogs don't get any medical care, and usually die by
the time they're three or so from worms, disease, injuries, etc. They breed
for quantity and sell for $50-100. I have a small (comparatively) female
that's fully registered with the AKC that I bought for $75. She's been
thoroughly vet-checked and is about 70 pounds at 12 months, and gets good
food and care. The male was bought for $350 from MS. He's registered with
the CKC and though his conformation isn't great (his head is like a St.
Bernard's) he's huge (12 months, 130 pounds) and healthy. It will be
interesting to see how they age.

I've considered it a small, private mission to get the other farmers see how
well my dogs
do with care. By the way, LGDs are usually neutered by serious farmers --
mine are.

I am in Northern Virginia - right now the puppies seem to be coming out of
just about everywhere - it is so hard to track - WV is a huge problem as
well Mid and Southern VA.
