I can recommend to you a choice of two brands that are excellent quality.
One: SOLID GOLD, Hund-N- Flocken; dog food flakes Maintenance Diet for dogs.
Ingredients include; Lamb meal, Ground Millet, Ground Brown Rice, Ground
Barley, Menhaden fish meal, Canola Oil, Flaxseed Oil, Rice Bran Garlic,
Amaranth, Blueberries, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Taurine, Carotene, Choline
Chloride, Calcium Carbonate, and another bunch of vitamin supplements. It has
NO wheat, No soybeans, No Corn, No Animal Fat, No Poultry Fat, No Byproducts,
No Sugar Added, No Preservatives, and No Salt added. My neighbors told me
about it. They have the biggest Doberman that I have ever seen; 33 inches and
120 lb. he has a beautiful coat, as does my Jasper. My Jasper (14 months)
really enjoys it and if FINALLY starting to put on some weight with it. His
stools are SOLID, (no more loose stools or squishy stuff) and he is also
GROWING a little. We buy it at a Feed Store.
The second brand is: Owen & Mandeville, (O&M) either Puppy Pride Dog Food, or
Prime Life Dog food. This is Not Available in Stores. I got a 15 LB bag free
from a distributor that I met at a dog show. It is an ENZYME ACTIVE WHOLE
FOOD CONCENTRATE product. It has; Kelp Meal, Probiotics, and Chelated
Minerals among its many ingredients. It is a HOLISTIC, BIOSYNERGEITIC,
PRODUCT. It is supposedly baked fresh under very strict conditions. At any
rate Jasper does extremely well with it.
I combine the two products together, in equal amounts, in his food bowl. He
is absolutely thriving on it. He came to us when he was 22 weeks old. He had
an ear infection, an eye infection, and Giardia. He was very small for his
age, and I really despaired that he would ever grow enough to make the
minimum standard. I tried IAMS, Science Diet, (Veterinarian's Prescription
type) Chicken Breasts and Rice, (the same stuff that we ate) and a few other
brands. THIS STUFF REALLY WORKS. It is expensive but it is TOP QUALITY. I
also mix in a CAN of Solid Gold every other meal. I mix this in with the dry
food and he usually finishes all of it. He is not a gulper, he chews his food
better than I do. Therefore, I will leave the food out for him to finish. I
do not take it away after 15 minutes. Once he finishes it, His bowl is
cleaned and remains empty until the next meal.
Sorry I rambled on here, but I am just as thrilled as can be that Jasper is
healthy and thriving. These two brands of dog food are the best that I have
ever found!
