Again if you click on Talih and Sebuk, you see extremely short coats.  This
is what I am referring to.  I realize there is the possibility of them
blowing their coats but I personally have never seen a Pyr with coat as
short as some of these, not even blowing coat,

Its clear from the pictures these dogs are in the summer in Kansas.  Yes, I
have seen Pyrs with coat length that short, but in the winter it is very
dense with a full under coat.  I suspect when you might see these dogs out in
the snow in Kansas they would look quite different.  To me none of them
looked like a lab coat at all.  Just a short coat that is without undercoat.
Even the pictures of a long coat dog as described was very short on the body.
Go to Pyrenean Journal and look at the winners of the French Specialty.
Even the show dogs over there rarely have out long coats we see a lot of.

Click on the link to each dog.  There are other pictures on the site of dogs
working and just dogs.  You will rarely see the type coat you describe over
there.

I have seen them in my kennel as well.  I like them.  They are very heavy and
full in the cold weather, but no length in summer and no undercoat looks like
these Akbash dogs somewhat.  Do they win as easily in the show ring.  No way,
but that is just some perception from a judge who may not know what they are
doing half the time anyway.  Our breeders and groomers have excelled in coat
appearance.  Maybe sometime too much.
