Joe;
Now, I'm really confused, this is not an attempt to pick a fight,
I am really confused.

I know you are and accept that you are really looking for the differences.
They are great.  I went back and reread the initial post on the bitch to see
if I had missed anything.  I don't think I did.

First and most important his bitch is no threat to the family.  Just the
opposite.  She sounded very Pyrenean.  She is shy and fearful of strangers,
but the other difference is, you started with a puppy from the safety of the
whelping box.  He started with an abused, uprooted, pregnant, half starved
1.5 year old bitch that had the grace and dignity to come into his house and
whelp puppies and be a very reliable mother.  Plus apparently a very reliable
family member.  That is why I wanted to know if she would allow any of them
to handle the new borns.  That would show she was able to trust her new
family of two days.  That would be remarkable in my opinion.  Maybe its the
breeder in me, but this told me an awful lot about this bitch.  I am a little
nervous about her fear and strangers, but have no fear about her and her
present family.  You can see that.  I know your love for Zeus may be making
you want it to happen so badly for him.  My saying anything will mean nothing
to the success or failure of Zeus, but Zeus and this bitch are very
different.  If her fear ever escalates and she becomes a danger to people
then this might change.  I will bet that this bitch has what it takes to make
the adjustment and with time and patience she will become more trusting and
comfortable. I think she will be less likely in time to be a threat to
visitors in the home or meeting along the walkways, etc.  This is my only
fear for this bitch now.  I fear Zeus is much more severe and pathological.
You had him from a puppy.  You described the classic fear biter posture of a
puppy.  This is genetic as well.  There are just different degrees of
pathology and probably different etiologies in the central nervous system.
My hopes for Zeus are equal to my hopes for this bitch.  I just have a
distance and perspective to not be involved emotionally with either.
