Barb, my favorite is to pivot around in the kitchen and find them right
at my feet....surprise!  I have also been known to turn and slip on their
tails!  That's a feeling that is sure to wake a person up!! :-)  If I am
doing serious cooking where they may be injured, they get booted out. 
But there is plenty of times they come in silently and lay right behind
me at my feet.  Cindy
