Re: [pyrnet] Re: Treatment of animals

Great Rat story! Mine comes in a smaller package. The other night we
were sitting watching TV. Silver was stretched out sleeping on the
fireplace hearth, enjoying the cool slab. The TV sits on the far end ,on
the slab. As we are sitting there a little mouse pops out from under the
TV end, and scampers along the hearth, right up Silver's back ( and the
dog never moves!!!), then runs back and disappears. Bob and I calmly
discussed if we really saw that, and if we both actually saw the mouse,
and what the heck was the dog doing, and the fact that we would have to
hit the store and get something to catch the mouse in. A little while
later, out comes "the mouse" again. Bob flings himself off of the
couch, arms outstretched, Silver flies up in the air at this point, sure
her Dad has lost his mind, and is after her. Mouse dashes across the
hearth, over the edge, under the end table, around the love seat, and
behind the aquarium cabinet. All six dogs are now up and wondering what
the heck all the excitement is? Eventually we have quiet again....
After a while though Polar Bear flings herself into action, Bob says..."
It's making a dash for the dinette", table and chairs start flying as
"Po" attempts to make sure this is the mouse's last stand. Not good for
Po on the slippery kitchen floor though, as the mouse gets away and heads
for the aquarium cabinet once again. Polar Bear was going nuts sniffing
down that cabinet, and we had to call her off it eventually as we were
afraid we would have 55 gal. of water going through the family room, if
she kept it up. The mouse never ventured out again ,while we were around
at least. And I did talk to the three cats that inhabit the house and
questioned what it was that they were doing to earn their keep? Of
course now we are on a serious mouse hunt as well! :-) Cindy
