I have often wondered what our foster dogs "think" when we hand them over
to yet another owner. At our house, our fosters are treated no differently
than our own. They get baths, brushing, nail trims, they have their own
special food bowl, and often times "better" food than our guys because they
are underweight, or just need that bit extra to make them bloom, are taken
to the vet as needed, taken for walks at Furman University with our guys,
go to Petsmart for a toy, have a cuddle while laying beside us on the sofa
(yes, being on the furniture is allowed) and, in the case of Tara, allowed
to sleep in the bath tub. Then, suddenly, a permanent home is found, and
off they go again. I know our permanent homes are screened carefully, and
so far they have all been successful placements. Still, I wonder.
