[pyrnet] Fw: Heads-Up about the APRI (important)
This came through on another list. I'm in the process of
navigatiing the site now. With this very slow computer, this may
take all night! I'm including 2 separate posts on this subject.
Thoughts anyone? The lists have been quiet lately, so... happy
reading!

It is very important that your respective pedigree registries do
not support the APRI registry in your country as an alternative
to AKC.
The message below was written by an undercover person on the
private commercial breeders forum. We have noted that there is a
push now to push the APRI to foreign countries. Please ACTION
this with a letter to your registry or canine body and ensure
they be fully aware what this registry stands for.
I would also think it would not hurt to have Clubs within the USA
write to foreign canine bodies alerting them to what the APRI is
up to.

Andrea

I am writing this in concern regarding new knowledge obtained
from the APRI (America's Pet Registry, Inc.) that they are
beginning to make contact with foreign registries in an attempt
to gain acceptance by the
world kennel clubs. Please be aware that the APRI is the dog
registry that was created by the commercial and puppy mill
industry in direct opposition to the AKC and especially their
opposition to the program
that required DNA registration of frequently used stud dogs. APRI
has become a haven to those breeders and dog producers who have
been suspended by AKC for infractions such as poor record
keeping,
mistreatment or cruel treatment of dogs, falsifying registrations
and everything else and so to avoid scrutiny have chosen not to
use AKC yet
continue to register their dogs as pure-bred. Please be aware
that should APRI ever be accepted as a legitimate registry not
only will the purity of the stud book but the health and
well-being of many breeds be
placed in jeopardy. I would urge any dog club, kennel club, breed
club or breeder of purebred dogs to treat anyone with suspicion
should you be approached by someone asking for APRI recognition
or showing an interest in using this registry service.

LOL, I feel like I am in a James Bond movie. The forum that this
person is speaking of is not private but public. If you want to
be amused, disgusted, irate, check it out:
http://www.usabreeders.com
and click the forum button which is near the top of the page on
the right hand side. I have to agree though, APRI is now the
registry of choice among millers
and they have just started to have "dog shows." But as one
breeder on the forum lamented, the dogs have to be leash trained
to participate <sigh>
Back to your regularly scheduled programs....
