[pyrnet] home again

Hi, everyone--I've missed you all during the past three weeks.
We have now added Tori to our family, and she's settling in beautifully.
She's a little anxious and timid in new situations, but I don't think
hard-wired shy like Ivy Rose, so I hope we can overcome much of her
anxiety. She's incredibly curious, so that will come to the fore, I think.
Like Ivy Rose before her, she's been a kennel dog for the first 14 months
of her life, so all in the house is new. And, of course, she's still such
a puppy in many ways--a long time since we had one so young so we're
learning all over again just what multitude of things are fascinating
"toys".
The two girls are getting along fine. It worked well to have them boarded
together at the kennel while we were on vacation--they were good friends
by the time we brought them home together.
Now a question:
Three days ago, Ivy started to sneeze, first just a couple of times, but
by yesterday morning quite intensely and with some bloody mucus from her
nostrils. We took her to the vet. hospital in something of a panic, given
our experience just a month ago with our boy. They still have not ruled
out the possibility of a tumor but it is looking more and more like some
kind of virus, possibly picked up in the kennel. Her platelet count was a
bit low but showing signs of rebounding, so we have her on amoxicillin
just in case there's something going on there, and the best advice we have
at present is to give it a week, have the blood work repeated, and see if
we need to do anything further. If it doesn't clear up, the next step is a
CAT scan followed by a biopsy if anything shows up. We'd love not to have
to go there!! Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this? Tori
has sneezed a few times during the past few days, giving more weight to
the possibility that they've picked up something. Poor old Ivy Rose looks
like I sometimes feel with a horrible cold, runny nose and watery eyes!
And Tori can't understand why her buddy doesn't want to play, eat, do
anything else!
Thanks for any advice or information you have to share.
