I am so happy to hear that this boy was rescued.  I recieved this email last
evening and I thought you all would be interested in the details on the
handsome boy.

whew, what a day! i cancelled my 11am appointment so i could go to
the shelter and get the pyr. (it's miles and miles from my house.)

when i arrived, another woman, merri roberts, was just bringing the
dog outside on a lead. it turns out she had heard of the dog on
pyrnet.com, and had come to save him, too. she has a large male pyr
at home, but wanted to do something rather than let him die.

we took him out into the yard together, along with her three
children. while the dog was panicked inside and almost bit her, he
turned into a sweet, loving dog once away from the kennels. we both
gave him long hugs and pats and scratches, which he soaked up. as
you'd hug him, his eyes would sort of glaze over and he'd lean into
you. it was so touching.

he was terribly thin and badly matted. he also had a jagged scar down
the top of his muzzle from the inside corner of his left eye to his
nose. the poor guy had been through it.

and yes, he was due to be put down in the morning.

this dog responded so well to human interaction, to the kids--he
bonded with merri's young son immediately--went belly up for the
kids, was sooo sweet. he's going to be a really fine pet.

merri took him, and i understand, after speaking to pyrangel in
illinois, that he has a good home waiting for him already.>>
