Thanks for all the info on pyr play. Bonnie
sounds a lot like all the other pyrs -- likes to put her front end down,
bum up, chase us around etc. Except she likes to spring off of us every
once in a while, so when she wants to play, the kids and I usually run and hide
and leave my husband to try to outrun her! She knocked me over once, and
I'm sure she felt guilty because she immediately lay down and bellied up (course
I kind of fell on her.) We've had her three weeks now, so I've started
some training. We've taught her to sit, even had her sit and down
once. With the "paw off" thing, she looks very guilty when she paws us for
lovin' but she keeps doing it. Some firm response to the love nibbles has
her now nuzzling us instead (no open mouth) All in all, we're lovin' her
more every day!
She is still losing a lot of fur (undercoat?) and
has some spots on her belly where, I think, the bugs have been biting her.
Bonnie will be a year round outside dog, so we're working at some sort of
black fly/mosquito control.
As far as toys go, she's shown some interest in a
baseball glove and one of the kids stuffed toys!
She's no longer defensive with Border Collie
next door (who is now snubbing her.) Bonnie tries to play, but the BC is
still mad that she took her kids away. I'm confident they'll come
around.
