I agree, Pam. Florida has sort
of lagged behind the rest of the South in some respects. It was not
much of a force in the Civil War. It is Occupied Territory, captured by huge bank
accounts without a shot being fired.
As a supporter of Barry
Goldwater's idea of solving most of the country's problems by sawing off the
east coast, I would regret Florida, North and South Carolina going, but rest of
it would improve the country tremendously, even Virginia, which is now as
radical as Mass,Maine, N.H> and New York. N>H> infected Vermont,
so a pretty wide slice would have to be taken there.
I would be in favor of letting all those
states go. Let them form the Northeast Socialist Alliance, without having to
fight for it. Between them, Massachusetts and New York, soak up more federal tax
dollars than
the whole Midwest put together.
Massachusetts is the number one welfare state, getting more unearned tax dollars
than any other state. I'm in favor of letting the Kennedys support them for
awhile.
