[pyrnet] The New Girl, photos, and Pyrsonal stories

We lost our Great Pyrenees named Clondike a year ago in February at age
13.25. She essentially won her 32 month fight with canine lymphoma,
having been evaluated as still in remission a week before she had to be
euthanized for complications of arthritis and old age.

One month to the hour after we made that last trip to the vet with
Clondike we left home to pick up a 3 1/2 year-old Pyr girl named Abigail
to "foster" for a couple of weeks. She stole our hearts in the first 24
hours, but she is a real project dog. She suffers from territorial
aggression which we have managed with Prozac, lots of love, a little
training and major socialization. It took 6 months, but we eventually
signed the papers and adopted the "Fuzzy Terrorist."

She now stops strangers on the sidewalk and insists on being petted and on
Monday she sat down in front of a house just as an elderly lady was coming
down the steps. The lady talked with my wife for a few minutes and then
ended up petting Abigail. She confessed she hadn't touched a dog in 2
years after being attacked by (of all things) an Irish Setter. The
"Terror of Topton," however, engaged her in a real love fest.

I maintain a web site called Penny Pyrbred's Web Page which is an
electronic version of a regional club newsletter which I edit. It has
lots of photos of Clondike and the story of her lymphoma therapy. What it
hasn't had until tonight is any photos of Abigail. I've just been too
busy.

Tonight I put up some photos of Abigail and also the last installment of
Clondike's "My Life as a Rescue Dog" and the first installment authored by
Abigail entitled "My Life as a Rescue Dog--Continued."

All the new stuff is flagged on Penny's main page. Check it out at:

I hope it will bring a few smiles.
