As far as I know, most Bears in the Northeast are black bears. The
protective instincts of the Pyr should make him/her (bear) move on to easier
pickings. In areas where this is not the case, or in areas where there are
big cats, more Pyrs would be required to be both effective as guardians and
to protect each other. There is safety in numbers.
