I suspect that is true everywhere.  Blaireau is more the state of the various colors as opposed to a specific color.  Actually the blaireau  is a "grizzled" color that is typically seen as color on the distal end of each hair, fading until it is white as the hair enters the skin.  The "lack of badger" i.e. the hair being colored the complete course of the hair, especailly in black, was always considered as a sign of potential crossbreeding.
