I really agree that bloodwork should be done.  My 15 year old German Shepard cross had symptoms of vomitting and diarrhea and wouldn't eat.  Blood tests revealed pancreatitis, which we treated once successfully, but the second bout lead to his demise this past November.  Even if a vet doesn't recommend a test, doesn't mean you shouldn't push for it.  Just like human doctors, they need to listen to us - we know ourselves best and the same with our four-legged kids!

Of course I don't mean to scare you, but just getting a simple test done to take away all the guessing and worrying.
