I see what you are saying
Michele...it makes sense. Just like allot of people become ill...and some pass
out , from the heat when they go from an air conditioned building out into heat
and humidity. We and I'm sure dogs as well, can not handle such rapid changes in
temperature.
Well since the Hydro Company
decided to triple my hydro rates in the last year....we no longer have
airconditioning :(
The dogs did just fine last
summer...probably better than me ;) We also have a pond for them to cool off
in.
Cat I'm sure you misunderstood
Michele...and I think you were a bit harsh. She does not withhold
airconditioning from her dogs to be cruel...what would the point be in that?
She does it so they can keep
their body temperature regulated, can get used to temperature changes
gradually and do not have to deal with the dangers of a rapid rise in
temperature...like when they have to go outside.
BTW...I don't let the Pyr's on
the sofa either.....for three reasons...one I can't afford to buy sofa's every
year...
two, there is plenty of Pyr
hair everywhere else to share with visitors...no need to stick some on
their butt...or mine.
three... the queen spaniel said
that the sofa is reserved for her alone! ;)
Take care,

Too bad you feel this way but maybe if you wish to be that
sarcastic you could send your response privately. As it turns out, what Elaine
says is true. Drastic temperature changes ie: going from cool to very hot or
vice versa is not good for the animal.(or people) Particularly double
coated dogs, its just takes them a bit longer to regulate changes in body
temp.
I don't think the correlation between temps and
feeding dogs is there, so the comment about the dogs getting used to bieng
hungry was not warranted.
Just because someone "owns" dogs doesn't make them an expert
either.
You probably have no reason not to share those things with
your dogs, but not everyone lives like you- and respecting other peoples
opinions and posts is just common courtesy.

The best way, that i've found with dealing with the heat with
the pyrs is to not let them into air conditioning at all, I
feel sorry for your dogs.
that way
they get used to it and tolerate it If you don't feed them do they get used to being
hungry? and don't think much about it. how do you know what
they're thinking? I learned that from a friend of mine who shows Saint
Bernards. Just because
someone shows dogs certainly doesn't make them an expert. That
statement is proof.
As long as I have air conditioning...my dogs are
welcome to enjoy it with me. As long as I have a sofa they are
welcome to enjoy that with me...as long as I have breath they will have
every possible comfort. What possible reason could I have for
not sharing these things with them?
