OK - I agree. I was harsh. But so is leaving a dog out in extreme heat (or cold). Have you ever seen a dog with heat stroke? It happens very quickly and is often fatal.
And yes, you're right. I don't know what climate the OP lives in.
I live in the high desert where the winter temps go well below freezing and the summer temps can be over 100 for days and days at a time. The temp changes are not always slow either. They can go from a nice comfortable 60 degrees to over 80 in just a couple days. Dogs can't acclimate that rapidly.
