Re: [pyrnet] [dthoele1@hotmail.com: Entry to Guestbook]

I am far from a Pyr expert, but here is my two cents. My little monster is
18 months old. He sheds constantly year around with major shedding taking
place for the last two weeks and he sheds around October badly. As far as
the barking goes, he never barks unless someone or something gets within
about 15 feet of the house or yard. He is much quieter than my elkhound. I
don't know how typical he is, but he seems about average for the breed in
other respects as he is 28-1/2" at the shoulder and weighs 117 lbs (you can
still feel his ribs just fine). Another male Pyr that he plays with at the
dog park seems to have the same shedding schedule, but his owner says he
barks all the time. Hope this helps.

guardian for our sheep. The only problem is that the GP has never made it
outside as we have enjoyed him too much in the house. He is housebroken and
learning basic obedience commands very quickly. I would like some advice
from anyone regarding how much shedding is typical and how is it controlled;
at this point he is not a barker, when does this start; any other
suggestions for maintaining a Pyr in the house. My husband and I are not
new to the world of dogs, only new to this particular breed. Any
information would be greatly appreciated
