Re: [pyrnet] [dthoele1@hotmail.com: Entry to Guestbook]
Nancy,
I use the Tri-Tronics Bark Limiter. This collar is a shock collar, but the
severity of it depends on which level you choose to use and what works best
on your dog. It has 4 levels of variable intensity contact points and
several length prongs for the length of dogs hair. It is vibration
activated so it does not go off by surrounding noises. It also does not
deter the dog from barking when he needs to. It just stops the nuisance
barking. My dogs now know what it is and when they are out barking at the
wind I can put it on them without even turning it on now and that is enough
to keep them quieter. The nice thing about this collar is.. it's
vibration activated so there are no controls to use. You don't have to
stand there waiting for the dog to bark to zap them. It really is
painless.. I was concerned myself when I first bought the collar so as any
good "mom" I had to try it out myself.. <laughing> Yes! it works! Start
out on the lowest level and go from there. The real trick with a Pyr is
getting the prongs through the hair so they have skin contact. With a
little practice this gets easier.
