Hello I am new to this, hope I am doing this right. I am a past Mum of
Irish Wolfhound and Great Danes. This is my first Pyr and I rescued her
from gentlegiantsrescue.com she came from a shelter and I know she was
abused. Victoria my Fifi does the exact same thing, she does everything you
described to the T!! I was wondering if this was just Pyr like but I just
don't think so. I have do beg and treat her up the stairs also and if I
don't lock her in the house at night she goes into the garage into a corner
by herself and it makes me so sad.

Our Pyr did the same thing when we adopted her from the shelter. She was
apparently kept in a dog run 99% of the time and on the rare occasions that
they would let her in she must have misbehaved and been punished. The poor
girl is still terrified of banging noises and humans other than us who try
to pet her, but she loves running around our house on all surfaces.We put
treats on the floor and on the stairs to get her to overcome her fears.You
just need patience for your baby to overcome her negative imprinting. Ours
is almost 4 now and we're still working on her fears. She is our third
rescue Pyr and they all had "challenges" to overcome. Good luck!

I have a young fella in rescue now who is petrified to walk inside a building on any kind of flooring...the shelter was calling him Bert, but we call him skidmark as he plants his butt, splays his rear legs and we skid him across the floor. I finally moved his crate to just inside the back door and Skidmark is being so brave now, taking 3 big steps across the evil floor into his crate...LOL!

Well, he's not my baby, but will be someones in the future, if I can start to get him to over come his fears. He is a rescue dog that I will place hopefully, sooner than later! :)
