Re: [pyrnet] New Yorker Cartoon

Judy,

You can appreciate how much we need to "shush" around here - I have two pyrs and a small flock of chickens including two pair of guineas on an acre of land in town.  I think the animals make less noise than the kids next door or behind us, and none of our animals are allowed to be noisy at night, but we are known as the "Animal House."

Town guineas make life hard on bugs too and even seem to eat mosquitoes.  Coyotes have been seen in the next suburban town over, but none on High Street so the pyr voices, even when shushed, are effective.

BTW our Zoning allows any sort of animals we want as long as they do not create a nuissance by smelling badly.

Amy,
I live on a 200+ acre farm and have two wonderful Pyrs,Karleo's Great Pyrenees Dog BreedSassy     & Karleo's Great Pyrenees Dog Breed   Moses   who bark most of the night, most nights.  I have come to love it as it represents their contribution to keeping the varmits at bay and our family of poultry safe and secure.  Our nearest neighbors are between a quarter and half a mile away so our "kids" are not causing them any loss of sleep.

The guineas work tirelessly to keep us tick free and the Pyrs work to care for us all.

All is well on "Hills of Home" as long as the Pyrs are carrying on and partying down during the dark hours.
