I transported a catahoula from Angleton to Cleveland over the weekend and on the way back, I stopped at a roadside flea market. To my horror, I discovered a mommy Great Pyrenees living in a mudpit on a 3-foot chain with a goat. I’m estimating she is about one year old and her second litter of puppies is probably about 3 months old. The only three puppies left were hiding under piles of rotting wooden pallets and I couldn’t get a good look at them. The chain is barely long enough to allow the dog to exit her cage, the water in the cage was filthy, the food was probably Ol’ Roy from Wal-Mart, and the entire place stunk to high heavens. I think she is being forced to relieve herself inside her cage and then just lay in it. There is no question that this dog or her puppies have ever had vet care. It’s also obvious that the man who "owns" her is going to keep her pregnant for the rest of her life so that he can sell the puppies. Once she’s of no use to him, she’ll either be shot, dro wned, or dumped down a country road.
My number one goal in life right now is to get that poor dog and her puppies out of there. The man is openly selling the puppies for $50 each. At first he refused to sell the mom, but he finally agreed and wants $125 for her. He says she valuable because she would make a good farm or ranch dog. Moron.
I am begging you to help me help her. I need money to buy the dogs and I need money for their vet care. Just since June 21 of this year I’ve spent $1,882.38 on vet bills alone. I’m dead broke. My other need for these dogs is for a rescue group to take them into their program. Some of you know I primarily rescue cats. I talked my husband into allowing me to rescue one dog at a time, and now I have three! I am committed to rescuing this mom and her babies and I will take them into my home if there is no other option, but it would be so much better for my home life if another rescue could step up to the plate and help me out. Lastly, SEND THIS ON TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW. No dog deserves to live like this and there's no telling to what cretins this man is selling the puppies.
