I do not understand why people like to see animals – or people
boxing – but it is amazing the lengths some will go. A canary
fighting group in Connecticut was recently busted. Apparently male
canaries will fight to the death over a female. It is not considered odd
to have many small birds, so it is easily hidden in suburban areas. http://www.wtnh.com/dpp/news/crime/news_wtnh_shelton_police_bust_canary_fighting_operation_200907270720 From:

I
know what you're saying. I want to believe that he has learned the lesson
but how can we know? I hate that he got off with such a light sentence
but that is our justice system at work. So now he gets his 2nd
chance. How
many people are there who live in the "back hills of where-ever"
who fight dogs, or roosters, or any animal and when they get caught
they get probation or a suspended sentence or some other slap on the
hand. I'm hoping that his notoriety at least brought the problem to the
attention of the public, which I think it has done. I
hate reading about stuff like this and about morons that zip a kitten up in a
duffel bag and leave it there for 6 days til someone else finds it and
saves its life or jerks that put a rubber band around a dogs snout so it
can't eat or drink and leave it for someone else to find. I would love to
see them all get the death penalty and in my opinion they deserve that.
But it won't happen. And
what about bull fighting in Spain. What kind of sick person would want to
watch someone torture and torment a bull before killing it? The
grand-stands are always packed with people and it makes me wonder how they view
other animals and how they treat their pets. The
sub-human who lived across the street from me moved about 2 months
ago and left her dog. She told animal control that she can't have a dog
where she moved, but yet she was able to take her two horses! She
shows up once a week and dumps food into a bucket and some man shows up once a
week and does the same and the dog is alone the rest of the time. He barks,
howls and whines most of the time and I've called Animal Control at least
a dozen times and they tell me that legally there is nothing they can do
because she is providing shelter, food and water. The dog is afraid
of people or I'd probably go get him and bring him here, which of
course would be committing a crime that could get me arrested. @@ The
whole situation makes me furious and depressed. My next idea is to start
calling the sheriffs office 2 or 3 times during the night when I wake up
hearing it bark or howl. I would rather see it go to the shelter and have
a chance of adoption than to see it being neglected as it is. If
anyone has any other ideas I'm open to suggestions. Cat |
