Your question isn't mundane. I welcome some responses as well. Kodiak lost his puppy coat and winter coat around this time last year. The amount of fur was massive and it was a never ending job. Evertime I thought I got it all I would look out the window and see him eating excess fur that wasn't ready when I brushed him. I don't remember this being such a monumental task with my other dogs.
When I part his fur I no longer see pink skin and there is fur that seems ready to sprout. I've run the rake through his fur and more comes out than usual . I am wondering if this is an indicator enough that he's beginning to lose fur. I am asking because this year I want the groomer to brush out the majority of his coat and I am trying to guage when to take Kodiak. I'm sure the timing varies as to when a dog blows his coat and other factors come in to play; but, I mean in general. I live in South Texas.

He is fine for the groomer if he's restrained on a grooming table and has stood for well over an hour getting brushed out with no problem. So here's my question - when will he blow his coat? Would I be wasting my money if I get him bathed and groomed now, if he's likely to blow his coat in a month or so? I remember reading some posts a few months back about Pyrs blowing their coats at about a year old, but he hasn't and right now his coat is quite intact. We're in New England if that's helpful.
